Mayo Clinic addressed the global shortage of nurses and workplace violence in healthcare by deploying a mobile emergency solution using BluFi, BLE, and RTLS technology. Through Staff Duress Badges equipped with emergency buttons and BLE beacons, 7,000 employees at the Rochester campus can trigger alerts in threatening situations. The system, integrated with BluFi BLE antennas and receivers, communicates through a mesh network to accurately locate distressed employees, significantly reducing false alarms and enhancing workplace safety. With 167 emergency calls recorded in 12 months and a notable decrease in false alarms, the project has increased employee safety awareness and set a new standard for healthcare security protocols.
