The Australian Wool Exchange (Awex) addressed significant challenges in traceability, data integrity, and logistical efficiencies within the Australian wool industry by implementing an RFID system in collaboration with HID. RFID tags, resistant to harsh conditions, are attached to each wool bale, ensuring proper identification and facilitating data capture from farm to processing. Since July 2023, all new wool packs in Australia have been equipped with eBale tags, marking a substantial advancement in supply chain efficiency and security. This technology simplifies wool bale tracing, replacing error-prone paper-based systems and benefiting stakeholders across the industry, including growers, processors, and consumers.
